Trip Cost and Travel Insurance

When obtaining a travel insurance quote, it is important to include an accurate trip cost.  Travel insurance is designed to protect pre-paid, non-refundable costs associated with travel.  This can include fees for re-depositing frequent flyer miles, and other costs that might apply in the event of cancellation or interruption.  It is possible to over insure, so calculate the numbers carefully.  If a policy is purchased to cover $3,000 but the traveler only has a $2,500 exposure, then the maximum that a claim will pay is $2,500 thus, the traveler has over insured.  So when planning a vacation, consider the various expenses incurred and potential losses with the trip:  airfare, lodging, transportation, cruises, tours and other pre-paid, non-refundable costs.  By making certain that your travel insurance quote is based on an accurate trip costs, you might be able to reduce the cost of the premium.
