Tropical Storm Debby formed late Saturday evening in the Gulf of Mexico. The storm is currently at a standstill in the northern Gulf, which may result in days of flooding, high winds and the continued threat of tornadoes to the surrounding areas. According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, the eastern Florida panhandle and northern Florida may see between 10 and 15 inches of rain, with isolated areas seeing as much as 25 inches. Total rain accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected over central Florida, southeast Georgia and South Carolina. Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Certificate of Insurance or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage. For plans that do offer coverage for adverse weather and natural disasters, please note that there is no coverage for this specific storm under any plans purchased on or after Saturday, June 23rd, 2012. It is important to understand that trip insurance policies do not provide coverage for adverse weather claims due to a named tropical storm or its resulting weather patterns unless the plans are purchased before the date when the storm is named.
