I Only Need to Cover a Portion of the Trip

Some travelers are only interested in having coverage during some of the trip.  However, travel insurance is designed to cover the traveler from the front door of their home, through the trip and back to their home.  When getting a travel insurance quote, it is important to be accurate with the departure and return date.  If the traveler only needs medical coverage for a segment of a trip, then international medical insurance might be a better option.  International medical insurance can cover any arbitrary dates, regardless of the actual departure or return dates.  The main distinction between the two types of insurance is that international medical insurance does not provide full trip cancellation or trip interruption coverage like there is with travel insurance.  Always refer to the certificate of insurance for details.
