Travel insurance can be purchased to cover up to one year. When getting a quote, enter the desired start date and choose the end date to be the previous day of the upcoming year. This is the maximum amount of time that can be covered in a travel insurance or international medical insurance quote. However, some international medical insurance plans can be renewed. The renewal period can be anywhere from 1-5 years. The initial time period to be insured must be at least 3 months in order for a policy to be renewable, that is, if it is a renewable policy. Always refer to the certificate of insurance for details.
