Florida is the favored spot for US vacationers, according to reports out this week.
Results from the YPB&R annual Leisure Travel Monitor have lifted Florida back into top spot, the Miami Herald reports.
Florida has always been popular with US vacationers, although its hurricane season means a good travel insurance policy is a must.
And given that no hurricanes hit south Florida in 2006, the tourism figures have rebounded.
Robert Thraikill, general manager of Conrad Hilton in Miami, said: ”I don’t want to jinx this, but so far so good.”
Dale Brill, head of marketing for Visit Florida, was positive also saying that despite “tenuous optimism” over the threat of hurricanes, many vacationers still wanted to come.
He commented: “Consumers still say they’re cautious about planning a vacation in Florida during hurricane season. Still, a significant size of the population is willing to come.”
