Family and friends of servicemen and women stationed overseas have been warned that travel insurance is paramount, since mobile American medical facilities may be inaccessible.
Only Tricare beneficiaries can use military medical facilities, according to the United States Air Force, so unexpected illness or injury could prove particularly costly without travel insurance.
“If mom or grandpa has a medical emergency outside the US Ö they’ll have to pay out of pocket for care at a host nation facility or rely on their private healthcare insurance,” explained Patrice Aldaz.
Visiting Air Force families and friends are reminded to bring at least enough medication to last them the length of their vacation and to bring their insurance card with them.
Ms Aldaz also recommends using the internet to seek out the best travel insurance deal.
Squaremouth allows vacationers to compare travel insurance offers from the country’s leading insurers quickly and simply, before choosing the right policy.
