American Airlines launches online portal designed for women

American Airlines (AA) is the first carrier to introduce an online portal designed specifically for its female customers.

In a press statement, the company said it recognized the growing importance of the women’s market and wanted to provide better information for its 50 million female passengers every year.

The website, www.AA..com/women, will include information on safety and security, traveling with friends and family, saving money and time on vacation plus advice from other female travelers.

Its launch follows recent research showing that 75 per cent of women in the US access the internet for general usage while of those women who booked a vacation last year, 35 per cent did so online.

Peggy Sterling, AA spokesperson, said: “This is a great opportunity to recognize the achievements of women, let them know we are listening to them and demonstrate through AA.com/women that we value their business.”

Figures show that on any given year, some 48 per cent of American Airlines customers are women.
